Gerry was born in Fredericksburg, Iowa. He attended Wartburg College for 2 years before transferring to
the University of Iowa where he graduated from the College of Pharmacy. He married his wife, Maureen, in 1967. After graduation from pharmacy he was accepted into medical school at the U of I and graduated with his MD in 1971. After a year of internship in Grand Rapids, Michigan he served in the United States Navy for 5 years. Following military service he and Maureen, made their home in
Cedar Rapids where he practiced for 35 years in Ob-GYN. They have two children, Todd and Carrie and
two grandchildren. Maureen and Gerry have been members of Maranatha Bible Church since the first meeting of MBC in 1979. Maureen has taught in the children’s ministry since the beginning of MBC. Gerry has served as deacon and elder. He currently teaches an adult Sunday School class. His interests include working on their farm in Anamosa, is a certified scuba diver, and likes to cook.
