Board of elders

Maranatha Bible Church has a Board of Elders to provide shepherding care for the church as a whole and its members.  The men presently serving as Elders are Gerry Barker, Marv Junk, Michael Moore, Rick Long, Scott Noll and Dale Krohse.  An easy way to contact any, or all, of the Elders is to send an email to contact@maranathabible.org .  If you desire a response from a particular Elder, be sure to include their name.


Rick Long

Rick is married to Sarah and has six children Ryan, Nicole, Elizabeth, Jonathon, Abigail and Rebekah and 13 grandchildren. I teach junior high Sunday school and also work full time as a teacher at Cedar valley Christian School teaching Secondary science. In my spare time I love to work outside, entertain grandkids, and go trout fishing with friends.

Gerry Barker

Gerry was born in Fredericksburg, Iowa. He attended Wartburg College for 2 years before transferring to  the University of Iowa where he graduated from the College of Pharmacy. He married his wife, Maureen, in 1967. After graduation from pharmacy he was accepted into medical school at the U of I and graduated with his MD in 1971. After a year of internship in Grand Rapids, Michigan he served in the United States Navy for 5 years. Following military service he and Maureen, made their home in

Cedar Rapids where he practiced for 35 years in Ob-GYN. They have two children, Todd and Carrie and  two grandchildren. Maureen and Gerry have been members of Maranatha Bible Church since the first meeting of MBC in 1979. Maureen has taught in the children’s ministry since the beginning of MBC.  Gerry has served as deacon and elder. He currently teaches an adult Sunday School class. His interests include working on their farm in Anamosa, is a certified scuba diver, and likes to cook.

Marv Junk

Marv grew up in a large family.  He and his wife, Jean, have four children and 9 grand children.  He spent many of his working years in the insurance and retirement income financial security areas.  A ministry passion of Marv's is college age ministry.  Two hobbies that he enjoys are gardening and hiking.

Dale Krohse

Dale retired in 2016 after a 45-year career as an electrical engineer in the electric utility industry.  He is married to Marlys and they have three children and nine grandchildren.  Dale enjoys being part of the Maranatha family and is involved with the Abundant Life food ministry and the men's ministry among other things.  Interests include outdoor activities such as camping and working with wood.  

Mike Moore
