Our Elders

BOARD OF ELDERS

Maranatha Bible Church has a Board of Elders to provide shepherding care for the church as a whole and its members.    An easy way to contact any, or all, of the Elders is to send an email to contact@maranathabible.org .  If you desire a response from a particular Elder, be sure to include their name.


  • GERRY BARKER

    Gerry was born in Fredericksburg, Iowa. He attended Wartburg College for 2 years before transferring to  the University of Iowa where he graduated from the College of Pharmacy. He married his wife Maureen in 1967. After graduation from pharmacy, he was accepted into medical school at the U of I and graduated with his MD in 1971. After a year of internship in Grand Rapids, Michigan he served in the United States Navy for 5 years. Following military service, he and Maureen made their home in Cedar Rapids where he practiced for 35 years in Ob-GYN. They have two children, Todd and Carrie and two grandchildren. Maureen and Gerry have been members of Maranatha Bible Church since the first meeting of MBC in 1979. Maureen taught in children’s ministry at MBC for many years.  Gerry has served as deacon and elder. He currently teaches an adult Sunday School class. Gerry is a certified scuba diver, likes to cook and enjoys working on their farm in Anamosa.

  • SCOTT NOLL

    Scott has been a member at Maranatha since 2004. He and his wife Maggie have three children. Scott works as a Director of Client Engagement for Transamerica Workplace Solutions in his day job. He loves coaching and cheering for his kids in youth sports and other activities, jogging or playing board games with family or friends. He has been involved in a number of ministries over the years, including High School Youth Group, Elementary Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and whatever else his wife, Maggie (Children’s Ministry Director) volunteers him for. He is passionate about engaging with children to help bring the truth of the gospel come to life, and helping the Maranatha family connect in fellowship to form stronger bonds of ministry.

  • Tim Countryman

    Tim was born in the Twin Cities area, but moved down to Cedar Rapids in 1986 to pursue a career at one of the large companies in town. He and his wife, Rhonda, joined Maranatha over 20 years ago, quickly becoming involved in Sunday School and Bible Studies. They have two grown children and are enjoying their time living the 'empty nester' lifestyle. They enjoy traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. They are also looking toward retirement and trying to figure out what the next stage of life looks like.
